Glossary

  • Cell-ID (Cell Identification)

    A GSM Cell ID (CID) is a generally unique number used to identify each Base transceiver station (BTS) or sector of a BTS within a Location area code (LAC) if not within a GSM network.

  • SIM (Subscriber Identity Module)

    A subscriber identity module (SIM) is an integrated circuit that is intended to securely store the international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) and the related key used to identify and authenticate mobile subscribers.

  • IMSI Number

    The International Mobile Subscriber Identity or IMSI is used to identify the user of a cellular network and is a unique identification associated with all cellular networks. It is stored as a 64 bit field and is sent by the phone to the network.

  • IMEI Number

    The International Mobile Station Equipment Identity or IMEI is a unique number used to identify GSM mobile phones, It is usually found printed inside the battery compartment of the phone, but can also be displayed on-screen on most phones by entering *#06# on the dialpad, or alongside other system information in the settings menu on smartphone operating systems.
